Movissian
Movissian was founded in 2021 by Paul Stanley with a vision to positively shape the Place and Movement of our Cities. Paul has over 25 years' experience in crowd dynamics - understanding how the design and operations of city infrastructure can improve the experience for people.
Paul has previously worked for British Rail, led the consultancy arm of Legion, and was a Principal at the global engineering firm Arup. He's led design teams for major metros, for award winning stadia, and numerous commercial, educational and cultural buildings.
The ideology underpinning Movissian is that everyone connected with shaping our cities - whether it is through Government Agencies, Transport Operators, Developers, Architects or Engineers have an inherent mission: to create a sustainable world in which peoples' lives are better. It is not the infrastructure itself that is important, but what the facility can do to enrich the lives, minds and memories of the people that interact with the spaces we create. And all this within a sustainable, restorative framework. Movissian uses their experience of crowd dynamics, multi-disciplinary collaborations and technology to provide the science to pedestrian movement questions.
The goal of Movissian is to share knowledge and to collaborate with similar passionate people to help create better places for all. One that reflects the needs for people to connect, to be active in our communities, to enjoy the interaction of people & place and explore the world around us in a level of comfort that reflects our environment; our expectations.

Movissian can help understand the key issues across a number of markets. For example, we can help design new train stations that are inspiring on opening day and still comfortable for our grandchildren's children. We can help document the performance requirements for station designs to drive innovation and excellence or can assess a consortiums' designs for compliance+. Our analytical outputs are the key ingredient to business cases which in turn drives project creation, jobs, experiences.
Movissian can help understand how a new commercial building will perform with respect to the way people interact with the built form. This allows both developers and future tenants to fully understand and influence the performance of the space for their customers. This is especially important as work-space flexibility, quality of the circulation experience, adaptation of varying density metrics, and promotion of active transport to/from buildings are vital to the success of a covid-norm world.
We have explored the user experience of cultural centres, the queueing implications for patrons during the arrival period, as well as understanding the movement and activities during interval and post event performance. We work closely with fire engineers and security specialists to understand all interfaces that could impact safety and enjoyment.
Designing school infrastructure is a passion. Vertical or Urban schools are becoming more frequently considered where space within our Cities is at a premium. We can help shape the floor plate sizing, circulation and vertical transport performance, and operational controls. And all to ensure one thing - that the educational environmental is positive for learning and development.
Finally, we have extensive experience of major event planning - Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and the design and operation of major sporting venues. We are comfortable in understanding the performance for ingress, egress and during retail periods and have helped Operators and owners understand the impacts and design guidance of the Green Guide.

Architecture / Structures: Movissian helps architects and structural engineers understand the spatial implications of a functional specification, or provide insights into the right balance between infrastructure and operations. Movissian can provide pedestrian modelling to estimate design performance - aligned to performance metrics.
Vertical Transport / MEP: Movissian can provide the analytical parameters to shape the form of the station - providing vertical transport requirements, platform widths, and volumes of patrons to aid quantity of ventilation and emergency responses.
Security/ Fire & Life Safety: Movissian can work with security specialists to understand the impact of large volumes moving into and out of a venue, taking into consideration the arrival and processing rates for the environment.
